The post covers the steps to start created custom SharePoint apps using Microsoft 365, for people, like me, that don’t have Microsoft Server installed at home and/or a Visual Studio license. The only requirement of this process is that you have a Microsoft 365 account with one of the following subscription plans:
- Office 365 Midsize Business
- Office 365 Enterprise E1, E3, E4, or K1
- Office 365 Education A2, A3, or A4
- Office 365 Government G1, G3, G4, or K1
Sorry small business accounts.
The next step is to create a developer site. Follow the instructions here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj692554.aspx.
Then you’ll want to open your site, and it should look something like this:
Click the Build an App icon to get started, and if you’re like me (a first-timer) you’ll be redirected to a page to install the Napa Office 365 Development Tools:
Click Add It to add it, and then confirm by clicking Continue:
Then we’ll return to our site to start playing 🙂
Cool!
